Location

The Aggtelek National Park has been listed with the UNESCO as part of Slovak and Hungarian national heritage since 1995. The most famous cave of the Aggtelek and Slovak Karst area is 25 km-long Baradla-Domica. The world under the ground is home to 500 different animal species and the archaeological findings from this area have proven that some of the caves were even occupied by the primaeval man. The Baradla cave has excellent acoustics thanks to which there are classical concerts organised in this unusual concert hall. Each year, Aggtelek appears in Baedeker guides as one of the Hungarian TOP tourist destinations.

Things to see

Thanks to its excellent location in Aggtelek, our village house is the guaranty of numerous adventures during your stay with us. On your way to Aggtelek, you have to pass through a picturesque village called Jósvafó, in which some episodes of the “1890” series taking place in the Betliar manor house were filmed. This place is, at the same time, a paradise for cycling and hiking or mushroom picking.

The Tengerszem restaurant or some other restaurants in the area will offer you typical Hungarian cuisine and will help you refresh during your leisure activities.

No longer used and flooded Rudabánya quarry with its amber-coloured water is mainly popular with scuba divers but it is also suitable for swimming. A nearby goat farm offers the possibility of horse riding. Natural springs with quality water and the location of a national park with excellent climatic conditions the symbol of which is the salamander you come across everywhere, make the place a renowned location for natural respiratory disease and allergy treatment.

Those interested in history will have their breath taken away by the L'Huillier-Coburg manor house and its stunning park in a town called Edelényi or by a book-printing museum with the biggest book in the world titled Szinpetri which has been listed in the Guinness Book of World Records.
